Four rules we don’t bend

The full method, the source register and the floors are in the Method tab.

  1. Every figure shows its source, its sample and its date.

What the global data says

Global SDR OTE hasn’t moved since 2022, and fewer than half of AEs hit quota

Two Bridge Group surveys carry most of what is known. They are separate studies, run in different years on different companies, so each figure stands on its own.

What was counted: the share of reps at quota, as the responding companies reported it; ramp, tenure and activity as each report gives them. Different measures are not one series: the Bridge Group reports the share of reps at quota, while vendors such as Everstage report median attainment, so we never set one beside the other. The activity mix stays in text until the Bridge Group allows a chart.

Why it may not apply here

The global numbers describe someone else’s market

The samples are North American. The Bridge Group’s SDR sample is 78% North America-based (S10); its AE report does not publish a regional split (S11).

The regional guides leave commission out. Michael Page’s UAE Salary Guide 2027 reports salaries “excluding bonuses and commissions” (S04). Cooper Fitch states that “Bonuses, pensions, and long-term incentives are excluded” (S06). For a role paid partly on commission, base pay alone undersells the job.

Egyptian job ads rarely show pay. 8.8% of 20,133 Egyptian listings posted between 14 Sep and 14 Oct 2026 showed a salary (S30, a one-person analysis of Tanqeeb data). Job ads can tell us which skills are asked for; they cannot tell us what the jobs pay.

So the only way to a local OTE figure is the people in the jobs, counted carefully: that is the contribution form and the floors below.

What you can do

Every local cell is closed until people in the jobs add their numbers

Add your pay, share your team’s comp plan, or take the skills check. Each meter below fills as people join; values publish only past the floor.

Pay: 0 of 10 people in every cell

Opens at 10 people from 5 companies, no company above 30%; a benchmark at 30.

Counts only, never values, as of 30 Oct 2026. One shared axis, 0 to 30 people, in every cell: the tick at 10 is where a cell opens, the tick at 30 where it becomes a benchmark. The pooled region adds Egypt, Saudi Arabia and the UAE together and opens first. Global reference: The Bridge Group (S10, S11), text only. 12-month window. Egypt rows paid in EGP and rows paid in US dollars or another foreign currency will be separate cells.

Questions

Why is a cell empty?

Because it has fewer than 10 people from 5 companies, or one company would be more than 30% of it. We show how many people we have instead of a number we cannot support.

Who sees my pay?

Contributions are not open yet. When they open, answers are sealed when they arrive, kept out of our CRM, and published only inside groups of at least 10 people from at least 5 companies. Your name and employer are never published.

L1 AwareI know what it is and can explain it, but I haven’t done it on real accounts.
L2 FoundationI do it on standard cases, with a template, a checklist or my manager’s review.
L3 PractitionerI do it on my own book, on my own, with consistent results.
L4 AdvancedI handle the hard or unusual cases, and I help others do it.
L5 Expert / ArchitectI designed the way my team does it, and others follow my standard.

How your result is worked out

Plain rules, stated up front

  • Your self-rating sets your level. The scenario questions are being piloted with SDRs, AEs and RevOps people, so they do not change your result yet. The result says “Self-rating, not checked”.
  • Every skill weighs the same. A gap is the target for your band minus your level. We do not have local demand data to weight one skill above another yet.
  • A course only if one fits. A RIVET course is shown only when it teaches that skill as a main subject, reaches your target level, is meant for your role and is open now. At most two, and every one is labelled as RIVET’s own.
  • A micro course for a gap. Where one of RIVET’s AI-Powered Skills micro courses covers one of your top gaps, the result names it beside the course cards, never in their place: on demand, about two hours, EGP 3,300 a skill.
  • A framework for a gap. Where one of RIVET’s Frameworks micro courses has a top gap as its main subject, the result names it there too: on demand, under an hour, EGP 2,600 a framework.
  • No course? We say so. Where RIVET has no course for a skill, you see a free starting point, and you can ask to hear when a course exists.
  • Your answers stay in your browser. Nothing you rate or answer is stored or sent. Your answers are used only to suggest courses that fit your gaps. Only if you ask us to email you do we receive your name, email and role, your LinkedIn link and company if you give them, with the courses your result showed and whether one of them fits you if you ask for the plan, and any skill you ask to hear about. Privacy policy
  • Ask us why. A person can tell you why a course was suggested, or why none was. Email success@tryrivet.co.

Questions

Is RIVET just selling courses?

The skills check recommends a course only when one fits, and every recommendation says it is RIVET’s own course. When no RIVET course teaches a skill, it says so and points to a free first step.

UAE sales postings grew while the UAE job market shrank

UAE sales and BD postings rose 25% year on year in July 2026 while UAE postings overall fell 12% (index 53). Gulf-wide, sales and BD postings held level (0%) as total postings rose 35% (index 150 to 202). Saudi sales and BD: +1%; Saudi index 192.

Sales hiring holds up in the Gulf, and AI in AE work is still hit or miss

Four items, each from a source in our register (S01-S33), with its date. Outside data only: no community figure appears here.

  1. Hiring · Gulf · 20 Oct 2026

Gulf sales and marketing hiring up 3% in the third quarter

Cooper Fitch’s Q3 2026 index, as reported by The National, calls it “cautious confidence rather than a broad hiring rebound”.

So what: demand is steady, not surging. The article does not describe the index’s method or sample, so read it as direction, not size.

  2. Hiring · UAE · July 2026 edition

UAE sales and BD postings up 25% year on year

foundit’s July 2026 tracker puts UAE sales and BD postings 25% above July 2025, while UAE postings overall fell 12%.

So what: sales hiring held up while the wider UAE market fell, so good sellers have options. Postings, not hires; all sales roles.

  3. Hiring · Egypt · 15 Oct 2026

Sales is the largest category of Egyptian job listings: 2,679 of 20,133

That is 13.3% of the Tanqeeb listings from 14 Sep to 14 Oct 2026, and only 8.8% of all listings show a salary.

So what: if you hire, a pay range in your Egyptian job ad stands out. If you’re the talent, ask about pay early. A one-person analysis, so treat it as a strong hint, not a census.

Local pay cells

0 of 10 people toward an early signal, in every role and market. Contributions are not open yet, so the count starts the day they open.

No talent move this week: one runs only with two dated sources. Global figures are not Egypt or GCC benchmarks. Spotted a mistake? Tell us.

What an item looks like

Three examples from our October source review

These are examples of the kind of item Signals carries, taken from the sources we checked on 29-30 Oct 2026. They are not an issue.

Items reported by a newspaper say so, and name the outlet and date. A talent move (an office opening, a hiring hub) needs two dated sources before it runs.

The cadence

Weekly signals; monthly, quarterly and annual editions only when the data allows

Weekly items are outside sources and counts. Community values change at most monthly, so a weekly change can never reveal one new contribution.

Weekly, on Tuesdays

Desert Camel Signals

Three to five items: a hiring signal, a talent move confirmed by two dated sources, a skills signal, and how close each local cell is to opening (counts only). A course link only when one fits that week’s skill signal.

Starts: Week 1 of the preview

Never: Padding. If fewer than three items qualify, we skip the week and say so here. Never a changed community value.

Monthly, first week

Talent Market Pulse

The month’s outside data, our job-post counts, and every community cell that newly meets a floor.

Starts: The first month with four weeks of job-post counts, or one community cell at the floor. Until then, a short “state of the data” note

Never: A cell under the floor, or a change built on fewer than 10 new rows.

Quarterly

The Desert Camel Report

Pay and performance cells, skills gaps against assessed levels, hiring demand, method changes and the changelog.

Starts: When at least 3 of the 12 role cells reach the early-signal floor, or 1 reaches a benchmark. If not, a clearly labelled preview edition

Never: A quarterly edition that is only outside data, sold as more.

Annual

The Desert Camel Report, annual edition

The year in one edition: the pay, performance, skills and hiring cells that met a floor during the year, with the year’s method changes and the changelog.

Starts: After the first four quarterly editions

Never: A cell under the floor, or figures from different years or samples on one axis.

Pick the editions you want. We keep your name, email, LinkedIn profile link, the editions you pick and, if you give them, your company, role and market, plus the page you signed up on. We use the link and the email’s domain to see whether you are already a RIVET member and where you work. It sits in our contact list, separate from the pay contributions.

Spotted a mistake or a source we missed? Tell us; we check it for the next edition.

We ask for your LinkedIn and work email to recognise members and link your company. Nothing you contribute to the report is ever linked to you.

Method

How we build the Desert Camel Report, and what we refuse to publish

Where every number comes from, how big a group must be before we show it, how contributions are checked, and what still waits for data.

MethodologyPreview editionLast changed 30 Oct 2026

01

What we publish, and what we never do

We publish figures with their source, sample and date: outside figures as their publishers give them, and community figures only above the floors below. Where we do not have enough, the page says “Not enough data yet” and shows how many people we have.

  • We never model or estimate a number we don’t have, and never fill a thin cell with a regression.
  • We never publish a minimum, a maximum or a single person’s value.
  • We never name an employer or show any figure for one company.
  • We never put figures from different reports, years or samples on one axis.
  • We never chart an outside source whose licence does not allow it; those stay in text until the publisher agrees.

Questions

Will you rate my employer?

No. The report publishes nothing per company: no company names, no company figures.

02

Three data layers, and how each contribution is checked

  • Outside sources, cited: the register below. Shown as “Sourced”, with “global” or “reported by” where that applies.
  • Individual contributions from SDRs, AEs and RevOps people, screened. Shown as “From our community” with the number of people and companies.
  • Company comp plans from sales leaders, one row per company, published as their own series and never pooled with individual rows.

Every published cell will show how many of its rows are verified from its first number. A “validated” label waits until we know how many people choose to verify.

Validation statuses for each contribution
StatusMeaningHow it is reachedPublished?
V0 ReceivedStored, not checkedOn submitNo
V1 ScreenedPassed the automatic checks: bot check, time on the form, currency matches the market or is USD, monthly and annual figures consistent, not a likely duplicate, and inside the cell’s outlier fences once the cell has 10 rows (before that, every row is read by hand)Screening script plus an analystYes
V2 Verified (email)V1 plus an optional one-time code to a work address on the company’s domain; the address is never storedAutomaticYes, counted as verified
V3 Verified (document)V1 plus an offer letter or payslip shown to a named RIVET analyst on a short optional call; nothing is copied or keptAnalyst, by invitationYes, counted as verified
X ExcludedFailed a check; the reason is kept (duplicate, implausible, wrong role, withdrawn)AnalystNo

03

Floors: how big a group must be before we show it

Every published cell reports the median of all people and the median of company medians (one company, one vote). If the two differ by more than 15%, the method line says so. Each cell also lists how many rows were excluded, and why.

Publication floors (RIVET’s rule, adopted 30 Oct 2026)
RuleValue
Privacy floor for any community figureAt least 10 contributors and at least 5 different companies
DominanceNo company above 30% of a cell. For value-weighted figures, the top 2 contributors at most 80% of the cell total
Rows without a companyCount toward the number of people, not toward the company count; at most half a cell; reviewed by hand before a cell opens
Company plans (sales leaders)Their own series, never pooled with individual rows; at least 10 companies per cell; one row per company per cell
Early signal (10-29 people)The middle half of people, n, the company count, how many are verified, the median as-of date
Benchmark (30 or more)The middle half, the typical value, the median of company medians, n, the company count, how many are verified
Performance figuresBenchmark floor only (30), within one quota unit; ramping reps excluded
NeverMinimum, maximum, single values, employer names, any per-company figure
Secondary suppressionIf a hidden cell could be worked out from a total and its siblings, we hide another cell or merge
Time12-month window. Values of open cells change at most monthly; a cell that newly qualifies may open within 7 days. Weekly Signals carry outside items and counts, never changed community values
Your own comparisonUses only published cells and cited outside figures, labelled as such

04

Windows, currencies and money

  • Window. A cell uses 12 months of contributions. Recency is shown, not filtered: every cell prints its median as-of month and the share of rows from the last 6 months.
  • Pay. Monthly figures are annualised (× 12). Guaranteed cash is basic salary plus fixed allowances; OTE is guaranteed cash plus variable pay at 100% of target.
  • Currency. Cells publish in the pay currency (EGP, SAR, AED or USD). The small multiples and the pooled region convert to US dollars at one stated rate per edition: the official pegs for SAR and AED, and the Central Bank of Egypt’s official rate on the edition’s cut-off date for EGP, each named with its date.
  • The pound. If the official EGP rate moved more than 10% inside a cell’s window, the cell says so and shows its US dollar value at the start and end rates.
  • Nominal money. Every money figure is nominal, labelled with its year, and not adjusted for inflation.
  • Gross and net. Egyptian base pay is collected gross. An optional net figure is used only on the contributor’s own screen and never published.
  • Percentiles. Linear interpolation (Hyndman-Fan type 7). Public labels read “Middle half of people: X to Y · typical: Z”.

05

Fixed cuts and the level ladder

No free filters and no per-company figures: combining filters lets anyone subtract their way to one person’s pay. We publish these cuts only.

07

Skills and course recommendations

  • Skills are rated on a 5-level scale anchored to SFIA: Aware, Foundation, Practitioner, Advanced, Expert. Each level is written as behaviour.
  • Target levels per role are RIVET’s proposal, not market data. The evidence behind them is thin and we say so; they change as the evidence grows.
  • Gaps carry equal weight until our own count of regional job posts reaches its floor.
  • A course is shown only when it fits the role, the level, the entry requirements and is available now. Every recommendation says it is RIVET’s own course. When no RIVET course teaches a skill, the check says so and offers a free first step.
